On 31 January, the Dominican Republic Emergency Operations Center reported that 15 provinces in the Cibao region are under green and yellow alerts due to the accumulation of significant rainfall in the last 24 hours. According to a media report, the heavy rains caused the displacement of 1,720 people, affected 344 houses, and caused 1 fatality in the city of Santiago. On 31 January, according to a media report, heavy rains causing floods and landslides in the state of Sao Paulo have caused the deaths of 19 people and displaced over 500,000 families. The equivalent of $2.8 million has been pledged in financial aid to assist the affected cities in Sao Paulo. The southeast region of Brazil was particularly affected by heavy rains since the start of 2022. Due to the ongoing rains and flooding, the Sao Paulo city government has temporarily canceled administering the COVID-19 vaccination. The report is available at: La Tribuna.
