On 30 January 2023, the Civil Defense of the state of Minas Gerais of Brazil, provided an update regarding the heavy rains occurring there. On 29 January 2023, in the municipality of Cipotânea, occurred a collapse of a building due to the mass movement caused by the heavy rains, affecting 45 people that had to leave their homes. Between 21 September 2022 and 30 January 2023, throughout the state of Minas Gerais, there were 21 deaths reported, 13,684 people were evacuated (157 increase since the 23 January report), and 243 municipalities declared an emergency (8 increase since the 23 January report).
