On 28 August 2023, the Civil Protection of Cuba (CONRED per its acronym in Spanish) established the Cyclone Alarm Phase in the provinces of Pinar del Río, Artemisa, and the municipality of Isla de la Juventud, due to the Hurricane Idalia. Media outlets reported at least 8,000 people were evacuated province of Pinar del Río. In addition, power outages were reported for 186,000 people in Pinar del Rio, 117,434 people in Artemisa, 47,980 people in Havana, and 4,326 in Isla la Joventud.
