On 30 September 2023, Civil Protection of the state of Amazonas in Brazil activated the committee to address the environmental emergency, with the aim of coordinating activities to prevent, prepare for, mitigate, and respond to the drought disaster affecting Amazonas. According to the information, there were 174,700 people affected by the drought in the state (63,700 increase since the 27 September report) and 19 municipalities (4 increase) out of 62 have declared a State of Emergency due to the drought. Landslide

On 2 October 2023, the Brazil Agency of Communication (EBC per its acronym in Portuguese), published information about a landslide in the community of Arumã, Beruri municipality of Amazonas state, Brazil. According to the report, the land collapsed after the constant passage of water on the banks of the river. There were 300 people displaced and two deaths reported. In addition, 30 homes were evacuated and 40 homes were affected. The report is available from: EBC
