Hurricane

United States of America (Update)

On 29 September 2022, the United States Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), provided information on Hurricane Ian's passage in Florida, United States. According to the report, Ian is now a tropical storm. FEMA declared Ian as a Major Disaster. As of 29 September, mandatory and voluntary evacuations were requested to 21 counties in Florida (3 increase since the prior report). A total of 176 out of 4,388 healthcare facilities across Florida were evacuated. At least 2.17 million people are without power and 9 airports, 25 ports, and 8 railways were closed. According to a media report, 20 persons are reported missing after a boat carrying Cuban migrants sank off the coast of Florida due to Hurricane Ian. Puerto Rico (Update)

On 28 September 2022, the government of Puerto Rico provided an update on Hurricane Fiona's passage in Puerto Rico through their Emergency Portal System. There have been 23 deaths reported associated with the hurricane (2 increase since the prior report), 8 are confirmed and 15 remain under investigation. Due to the flooding, the Department of Health has issued a health alert on Leptospirosis and as of 28 September, there were 72 suspected cases (65 increase since the prior report).
