Mexico (Update)

On 27 September 2024, the U.S. National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) reported flooding and landslides in southern and southwestern of Mexico due to the tropical storm John. Hurricane Helene

United States of America (Update)

On 27 September 2024, the United States National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) reported that Hurricane Helene is producing flooding over portions of the southern Appalachians and Tennessee Valley. The Florida Division of Emergency Management (FLSERT) informed that the on 26 September 2024, the hurricane Helene made landfall as an extremely dangerous Category 4 hurricane in the state. The government declared a state of emergency for 61 counties (20 increase since the 26 September report). Power outages are reported in Florida (n= 1,240,968), as well as in additional states by PowerOutage.us, South Carolina (n= 1,206,121), Georgia (n= 930,064), North Carolina (n=878,342) and Ohio (n=249,591). Media is reporting 41 deaths have occurred due to Helene in the states of Florida, Georgia, North Carolina, and South Carolina. The Governor of Florida announced in the immediate aftermath of Hurricane Helene hundreds of search and rescue missions were conducted by state personnel, and the state assisted on nearly a thousand others. Media has also reported that in the state of Tennessee, in the city of Erwin, dozens of people were being rescued by helicopter from the roof of a hospital.
