Wildfires
Chile
On 27 January 2025, the Chile Ministry of the Interior and Civil Protection (SENAPRED per its acronym in Spanish) declared a red alert for the communes of San Javier and Cholchol, Chile, due to wildfires. In Cholchol, 76 acres were burned, while in San Javier, the total reached 1,623 acres. On 25 January 2025, SENAPRED issued an evacuation order for the Camino al Navío sector in the commune of Nogales, located in the Valparaíso region, due to the ongoing wildfires. United States of America (Update)
On 27 January 2025, the United States Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) provided updated information on the latest wildfire active in Los Angeles County. According to the information, mandatory evacuations were issued to 24,600 people, 852 homes were damaged and 5,561 were destroyed. Additionally, 11 deaths and 4 injured people were reported.
