On 26 January 2024, the National Institute of Civil Defense (INDECI per its acronym in Spanish) provided information on the heavy rains in the district of Velille, in the province of Chumbivilcas, department of Cusco, Peru. According to the information, the heavy rains caused the overflow of the Chaychapampa river affecting a total of 57 families and 57 homes. Additionally, the water service was interrupted.
