Bolivia (Update)

On 22 February 2024, the Bolivia Vice Ministry of Civil Protection issued a red alert for the period of 22 February to 1 March 2024, due to severe rains affecting five municipalities in the department of La Paz and three municipalities in the department of Pando. On 25 February, media is reporting that between November 2023 and February 2024, 12,000 families were affected, including 150 families in the municipality of Cobija, Pando department, 456 homes were destroyed, and there were 40 deaths. Brazil

On 26 February 2024, the Acre State Government, Brazil, declared a state of emergency due the heavy rainfall causing flooding from rising river and stream levels. The heavy rains are affecting 17 out of the 22 municipalities in the state. In total, 11,281 people have been displaced in the state and 46 shelters were opened among nine of the most affected municipalities. The municipality of Jordão is the most affected with 80% of its population affected by the waters of the Tarauacá River; it is in an isolated area with a population just over 9,000.
