On 25 October 2024, the Brazilian Communication Agency (EBC per its acronym in Portuguese) published information on severe rain events affecting the states of Rio Grande do Sul, Parana, and Santa Catarina. EBC reports the municipalities of Cachoeirinha, Erechim, and Sapucaia do Sul in the state of Rio Grande do Sul, experienced damages due to the severe weather; in Cachoeirinha, 45 homes and two schools were affected while in Erechim, over 100 homes were impacted. EBC reports power outages were affecting 515,000 units in the state of Paraná and 237,000 units experienced power outages in Santa Catarina. There were also 200 homes affected in the municipality of Ponte Alta and 30 homes were impacted in São Miguel do Oeste in the state of Santa Catarina. The report is available from: EBC
