Colombia
On 25 July, the Colombia Geological Service reported a 5.7 magnitude earthquake that occurred on the border of Colombia and Ecuador. According to meida reports, the earthquake was primarily felt in the municipalities of Nariño, Pasto, Túquerres, Santiago, Ricaurte, Guachuca, Aldana, Ipiales, Contadores, Puerto Asís, Putumayo, Popayan, and Cauca. At least two people were minorly injured, serious structural damage occurred to 41 houses, and several other houses were less severely damaged. Guatemala (Update)
On July 2022, the Guatemala National Coordination System for Disaster Reduction (CONRED per its acronym in Spanish), reported 1,097 rain related incidents that occurred since the beginning of the 2022 rainy season. These incidents have caused slight damage to 663 houses, moderate damage to 2,644 houses, and severe damage to 234 schools. In addition, 72 bridges, 159 schools, and 27 buildings were affected and 5 roads and 26 bridges were destroyed. The report is available at: CONRED.
Wildfire
United States of America (Update)
On 25 July, the United States Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) reported on the Oak Fire in Mariposa, California. The fire began on 22 July, has burned 15,603 acres and is 0% contained. There have been 3,721 mandatory evacuations, 3,271 houses are being threatened, 5 houses were damaged, and 10 houses were destroyed. The Chalk Mountain Fire in the counties of Somervell and Hood, Texas has burned 6,753 acres and is now 20% contained. All mandatory and voluntary evacuation orders have been lifted, 40 houses remain threatened, 5 houses were damaged, and 16 houses were destroyed. The report is available at: FEMA.
