Brazil (update)

On 24 February 2023, the Civil Protection of São Paulo State, Brazil, published an update on the heavy rains in the state. There were 4,066 people displaced (526 increase since the prior report) throughout the state and 54 associated deaths reported (6 increase). The report indicates 27 people affected by the rains have been treated at the Hospital Regional do Litoral Norte according to the State Department of Health, of which 15 remain hospitalized in stable condition. The report is available at: Defesa Civil de São Paulo

Peru

On 24 February 2023, the Civil Protection of Peru (INDECI per its acronym in Spanish), published information on the heavy rains that occurred on 22-23 February in Lambayeque province, indicating there were 88 people and 27 homes were affected. Additionally, media is reporting that landslides across the country have left 44 dead and more than 6,000 people affected; 8 people are reported as missing, 318 houses were destroyed, 1,902 houses have been left inhabitable, and more than 9,200 have been affected.
