Bolivia 

On 23 February, the Bolivia Ministry of Health and Sports reported flooding that impacted the communities of Ñaurenda, Saladito de Ñaurenda, Tomatirenda, Mokomokal and Timboy in Entre Ríos, Tarija, and affected 200 families, 29 of which were displaced. The affected communities have received humanitarian assistance from the medical brigades of the Risk, Emergency, and Disaster Management Unit as well as the Ministry of Health and Sports. The medical brigades delivered water purification systems for 30,000 liters of water, medicines, and food. The report is available at: Bolivia Ministry of Health and Sports.  

 

Brazil (Update)

On 24 February, the Brazil National Civil Defense (DCN as per its acronym in Portuguese) provided an update regarding the effects from the heavy rains and landslides in Petropolis, Rio de Janeiro State. To date, 208 fatalities have been reported, 51 people are missing, and 899 people have been displaced and placed in 14 temporary shelters. According to the Brazil Ministry of Regional Development (MDR as per its acronym in Portuguese), $4.5 million has been allocated to further humanitarian assistance to the affected population and urban cleaning and restoration. Guatemala (Update) 

On 23 February, the Guatemala National Coordination System for Disaster Reduction (CONRED as per its acronym in Spanish) reported that since the cold weather season began in Guatemala, 153 incidents such as increased wind speeds, cold fronts, and rains have been reported in the departments of Verapaz, Chimaltenango, Guatemala, Huehuetenango, Izabal, Peten, Quetzaltenango, Quiche, Sacatepéquez, Santa Rosa, Suchitepéquez, and Zacapa. As a result of these incidents, 96,763 people have been affected, 5,008 have been evacuated including 475 who have been temporarily placed in shelters, 7,878 people have received humanitarian assistance, 2 people are currently missing, 3 people were injured, and 84 people are currently at risk. In addition, 1,463 houses have sustained damages, 4 homes are at risk, 18 roads and 4 bridges were affected, and 6 buildings and 1 church were destroyed. The report is available at: CONRED.
