Brazil (Update)
On 23 January 2023, the Civil Defense of the state of Minas Gerais of Brazil, provided an update regarding the heavy rains occurring there. Between 21 September 2022 and 23 January 2023, 21 deaths have been reported in the state of Minas Gerais. Additionally, 13,527 people were evacuated (579 increase since the 12 January report) and 235 municipalities declared an emergency (19 increase since the 12 January report). Earthquake
El Salvador (Update)
On 23 January 2023, the Civil Protection of El Salvador provided an updated report regarding the recent earthquake. The report indicates that in Ahuachapán 797 homes were affected (341 increase since the 20 January report), with 474 uninhabitable houses and 47 houses destroyed. The government opened 68 temporary shelters close to the homes of families who had not evacuated to pre-equipped shelters, and 1 shelter was opened housing 32 people.
