On 23 February 2024, the Brazil Agency of Communication (EBC per its acronym in Portuguese) provided information on the heavy rains occurring in the state of Rio de Janeiro. . In total, 100 people in the state have been affected by the severe weather and 8 deaths reported. The most affected municipalities are Mendes, Engenheiro Paulo de Frontin, Paracambi, Japeri, Queimados, and Nova Iguaçu. The report is available from: EBC
Ecuador (update)
On 23 February 2024, the Ecuador Risk Management Secretariat published information on the heavy rains affecting 23 provinces of the country. In total, 83,456 people were affected (5,195 increase since the 22 February report). In addition, 19,195 homes have been affected (859 increase), 71 homes were destroyed (15 increase), 11 shelters were opened housing 401 people (10 increase), and 23 healthcare facilities were affected (7 increase).
