On 22 August 2023, the United States Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), published information regarding the Hurricane Hilary in the states of California and Nevada, United States. In the state of California, evacuations orders are in effect for 9,000 people, 10 shelters were opened with 42 occupants, and one community water system affected impacting 139 people. In the state of Nevada, 2 shelters were opened with 3 occupants, and 1 water system was affected impacting 1,040 people. Media is reporting 40 people were rescued due to the floods in Cathedral City. Chile (Update)
On 22 August 2023, the Chile Ministry of the Interior and Civil Protection (SENAPRED per its acronym in Spanish) published updated information on the frontal system occurring in the central-southern region of the country. SENAPRED reports 34,176 people were isolated, 33,582 people were evacuated, and there were three deaths. Additionally, there were three homes destroyed, 296 homes suffered severe damage, and 893 were moderately damaged. The report is available from: SENAPRED
