On 22 January 2024, the Brazil Agency of Communication (EBC per its acronym in Portuguese) provided information on the heavy rains reported in the state of São Paulo that occurred on 19 January 2024. Overall, a total of 19 municipalities were affected, four deaths have been reported, and 615 people are displaced. The deaths have been reported from the municipalities of Limeira (n=2), Praia Grande (n=1), and Sorocaba (n=1). The São Paulo Civil Protection informed that the Gpaci Hospital (Children's Cancer Assistance Research Group), in Sorocoba, was also affected and has sent humanitarian assistance to Sorocaba and Socorro municipalities.
