Hurricane Season 2024

Tropical Storm Oscar

Cuba and Bahamas

On 21 October 2024, the United States National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) reported that a tropical storm warning related to Tropical Storm Oscar is in effect for South coast of Cuban Province of Guantanamo, Central Bahamas, and Southeastern Bahamas. A media report of the situation in Cuba indicates the tropical storm has left most of the country’s population without power, exacerbating system failures occurring since 18 October, and that the government has suspended all non-essential state activities, including schools due to the tropical storm. Another media source is reporting more than 1,000 homes were affected by the tropical storm between the municipalities of Baracoa, Imías, and Maisí in the province of Guantánamo. The reports are available from: NOAA, Plano Informativo and CNN
