On 20 July, the United States Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), reported the Chalk Mountain Fire in Somervell and Hood counties in the state of Texas. The fire began on 18 July, has burned 6,000 acres, and is 10% contained. The fire has destroyed 2 houses and is threatening an addition 704 houses. In addition, the fire is threatening the Comanche Peak Nuclear Power plant, transfer stations, and high-power transmission lines which may potentially impact regional power distribution. Mandatory evacuations are in effect for 500 residents and one shelter has been opened at the Somervell Expo Center. The report is available at: FEMA.
