United States of America (update)

On 20 March 2023, the United States Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), published updated information on the heavy rain and flooding affecting the state of California. Mandatory evacuations are in effect for 10,000 people and evacuation warnings are in effect for 50,000 people (an increase of7,000 since the 17 March report). There were 24 shelters opened, housing 606 people (a decrease of 56 since the last report). The Daily Operations Briefing is available from: FEMA

 

Peru (Update)

On 18 March 2023, the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA), provided a consolidated update regarding the cyclone Yaku in Peru. According to the information,  56,000 people have been affected, 58 deaths were reported, and 22,400 homes suffered damages. Anemergency declaration is in effect for 716 districts of the country (38%). Countrywide, 4,700 people are sheltered and 97 health care facilities were affected. Additionally, on 20 March 2023, the Peru Civil Protection (INDECI per its acronym in Spanish), published updated information on the effects of the heavy rains in the department of Tumbes. There were 350 people (937 increase since the 14 March report) and 487 homes affected (346 increase); and 11 homes were destroyed (7 increase). Earthquake

Ecuador

On 18 March 2023, Risk Management of Ecuador informed that an earthquake, 6.5 of magnitude affected the country. According to the information provided on 19 March, 1,107 people were affected, 14 deaths have been reported, 489 people were injured, 235 homes were affected and 90 were destroyed.
