Guatemala (Update)

On 20 August 2024, the Guatemala National Coordination for Disaster Reduction (CONRED per its acronym in Spanish) updated their information regarding the rainy season, reporting there were 1,514 related incidents nationally. As of 20 August, there were 8,315 affected persons, 7,199 persons at risk, 23,247 evacuated persons, and 23 deaths reported. In addition, 8,315 homes were affected, of which 7,200 presented moderate damages, 741 with minor damage, 374 were severely damaged, and there are 1,160 homes currently at risk. The affected infrastructure includes 45 schools, 584 roads, and 41 bridges, including five bridges that were destroyed. The report is available from: CONRED.

United States of America (Update)

On 19 August 2024, the State of Connecticut, United States, has declared a state of emergency in response to severe flooding that has caused extensive structural damage to roadways in the state. The heavy rainfall and severe flooding has left two people dead and over 100 people were evacuated. As of 19 August, over 25 roads continue to be closed.
