Guatemala (Update)

On 1 August 2023, the Guatemala National Coordinator for Disaster Reduction (CONRED per its acronym in Spanish) published an update on the rainy season in the country. There have been 446 severe rain weather incidents reported (29 increase since the 31 July report). At least 1,072,750 people were affected (35,903 increase), 11,302 people were attended to (1,992 increase), 3,932 people were evacuated (314 increase), and 243 people are being sheltered (114 increase). Additionally, media is reporting that 80 percent of the general infrastructure in the community of Yulwitz Grande, in the state of Huehuetenango, has been affected by flooding.
