Peru (Update)

On 18 September 2024, the Peru National Institute of Civil Defense (INDECI per its acronym in Spanish) informed that the Government of Peru has declared state of emergency in the most affected areas of the country due to the wildfires. the INDECI reports the regions of Cusco, Ancash, Amazonas, and San Martín are the most affected. In total 199 fires have been contained out of the 241 fires reported, 19 have been controlled, while 33 remain active. Media is reporting 140 people were injured and there were 16 deaths due to the wildfires. The reports are available from: INDECI and INFOBAE
