On 18 September, the Civil Defense of the Dominican Republic, provided information about Hurricane Fiona's passage in the country. According to the report, in Hato Mayor province there are 26 people sheltered. The Center for Emergency Operations (COE), reported that 18 provinces are on red alert and 14 on yellow alert. According to a media report, 11,554 people in the National District do not have electricity service. Across several provinces, 789 people had to evacuate their homes and 54 houses were damaged. According to the report, 215 people are held in 9 temporary shelters. So far, 170 homes in Aserrí and 353 homes in Desamparados have reported damage. According to the report, the island's hospitals are operating with generators and only 30% of families on the island have drinking water after rivers have risen and heavy rains impacted the system. More than 1,000 people have been rescued by authorities, and 1 storm-related death has been reported. According to the Puerto Rico Emergency Portal System and a media report, the company responsible for the electricity on the island is working to fully restore the power grid, which was affected by the hurricane. Only 100,000 people have power. According to the electricity company, energy will be restored gradually, starting with the health facilities.
