On 18 July 2024, the Ecuador Risk Management Secretariat provided information on the wildfire situation in the country, reporting there are five active wildfires currently. Between 1 January and 18 July 2024, 631 wildfires have affected in 16 provinces in the country and burned 5,271.84 hectares. The canton of Girón has activated the Emergency Operations Center.
