Haiti (Update)  

On 18 August, the Haiti Civil Protection provided an update to the situation in Haiti following the 7.2 magnitude earthquake that occurred on 14 August. In Sud Department, the earthquake has destroyed 30,122 homes and damaged 42,737 homes; in Nippes, 14,348 homes were destroyed and 14,898 homes were damaged; and in Grand’Anse, 8,483 homes were destroyed and 19,371 were damaged. In total, 2,189 people have died (1,832 in Sud Department, 137 in Nippes, 218 in Grand’Anse, and 2 in Nord-Ouest), 3,332 people are currently missing, and 12,268 people have been injured. Search and rescue continues for those who are missing. A map provided by the PAHO Health Emergencies Department with a visual of the impacted areas is provided in the final link.
