Tropical Storm Sara
Costa Rica, Honduras and Nicaragua (Update)
On 16 November 2024, the Costa Rica National Commission for Risk Prevention and Emergency Attention (CNE per its acronym in Spanish) activated donations to assist people affected by the heavy rains caused by Tropical Storm Sara. In Costa Rica, media reports that over 2,800 people are currently housed in 49 government shelters, and the authorities have documented at least 2,500 incidents related to the heavy rains. In Honduras, media reports indicate that 110,889 people have been impacted by the heavy rains, with 10,326 individuals directly affected and 8,416 evacuated. Of those evacuated, 5,057 people are currently residing in shelters. Furthermore, the severe weather has affected 2,534 homes, with 209 homes reported as destroyed.
