Peru

On 15 September 2024, the Peru National Institute of Civil Defense (INDECI per its acronym in Spanish) provided information on the wildfires in Peru, reporting there have been 222 wildfires with 173 extinguished and 25 remain active. As of 15 September, 14 deaths had been reported. On 13 September 2024, INDECI reported 96 people were injured and 1,876 people were displaced due to the wildfires.  The reports are available from: INDECI 15 September and INDECI 13 September

Tropical storm Ileana  

Mexico

On 15 September 2024, the U.S. National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration reported Ileana brought tropical storm conditions and heavy rains over Sinaloa, Mexico on 14 September. Media reported that the tropical storm Ileana affected several municipalities of Sinaloa state, Mexico, on 14 September. In the municipality of Guasave, six families from the community of Adolfo Ruiz Cortinez and 103 families from the community of Correrepe were evacuated. In the municipality of Sinaloa, roads were destroyed by overflowing streams and canals, cutting off access to several communities. The reports are available from: NOAA and Milenio.com
