Severe weather

Guatemala (Update)

On 13 October 2023, the Guatemala National Coordinator for Disaster Reduction (CONRED per its acronym in Spanish) published an update on the rainy season in the country. There have been 1,053 severe rain incidents reported nationally (91 increase since the 6 October report). At least 3,360,645 people were affected (578,288 increase), 39,309 people were attended to (2,629 increase), 17,940 people were evacuated (2,427 increase), 14,205 people are considered at risk (109 increase), 48 deaths were reported (3 increase), and 10 people are missing (1 increase). The CONRED also reported that in the last 24 hours 13,083 people were affected in the departments of Quiché, Guatemala, Escuintla, and Chimaltenango, and at least 17,544 people were evacuated, 14,205 are at risk, and 38,888 people were attended to. Drought

Brazil (Update)

On 13 October 2023, Civil Protection of the state of Amazonas in Brazil provided an update on the ongoing drought. There were 397,000 people affected by the drought in the state of Amazonas (95,000 increase since the 10 October report) and 50 municipalities (5 increase) out of 62 have declared a State of Emergency due to the drought.
