On 16 June 2023, the Civil Protection of Rio Grande do Sul State, Brazil, published information on the effects of a tropical cyclone that occurred in the state. The Civil Protection reported having rescued 628 people who were in at-risk areas, while the number of people rescued in places already affected by the cyclone is not yet available. In the municipality of São Leopoldo there were two people reported missing and one death was reported. In the municipality of Porto Alegre, power outages caused by the rain lead to the closure of one blood collection center and one health care facility. Additionally, media is reporting a hospital was flooded in the municipality of Capão da Canoa. On 16 June 2023, the United States Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), published a report on the severe weather impacting the US Central and Southern Plains, with tornadoes reported in Texas, Michigan, and Oklahoma. FEMA cited media reports on the situation in Texas indicating at least 200 homes were destroyed, 250-300 people were in a local shelter, dozens of injuries are reported, and three deaths. About 228,000 people are without power statewide. In addition, separately, the Mississippi Emergency Management Agency provided information on the severe weather in the state of Mississippi.
