On 16 February 2023, according to a Civil Protection of Peru (INDECI per its acronym in Spanish) press release, on 15 February 2023, a landslide and flooding produced by heavy rain were reported in the Districts of Santiago de Quirahuara and Pilpichaca, Huaytará Province, Huancavelica Department. The Regional Emergency Operations Center (COER per its acronym in Spanish) of Huancavelica reported damages in 7 houses affecting 28 people, as well as damages on roads and crops in both jurisdictions.
