Guatemala (Update)
On 15 October, the Guatemala National Coordination for Disaster Reduction (CONRED per its acronym in Spanish) published an update on the ongoing rainy season in the country. CONRED reports there have been 2,298 related incidents nationally from the severe weather (54 increase since the 7 October report). As of 15 October, there were 15,363 people directly impacted (42 increase) and 29,586 people evacuated (112 increase). In addition, 15,363 homes were affected (42 increase), of which 14,064 presented moderate damage (39 increase), 868 with minor damage, and 431 were severely damaged (two increase). On 14 October 2024, the United States Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), provided updated information regarding the response in coordination with Florida Emergency Management. According to the information, 15 deaths were reported, and 30 shelters are opened housing 2,958 people. As of 14 October 2024, a total of 460,000 people remained without power.
