Tropical Storm Sara

On 15 November 2024, the United States National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) reported that Tropical Storm Sara is lingering near the northern coast of Honduras. The storm is anticipated to trigger catastrophic flooding and mudslides across some Central American countries. Media reports indicate that 1,797 people have been affected, and three individuals are missing in Honduras as a result of the storm. The reports are available from: NOAA and El Heraldo

Guatemala (Update)

On 14 November, the Guatemala National Coordination for Disaster Reduction (CONRED per its acronym in Spanish) published an update on the ongoing severe weather/rainfall in the country. CONRED reports that there have been a total of 2,496 weather-related incidents across the country (an increase of 109 incidents since the 24 October report). As of 14 November, the severe weather incidents have directly impacted 16,198 people (an increase of 623). Additionally, 31,017 people have been evacuated (an increase of 929). The number of affected homes has reached 16,198 (an increase of 835), with 14,839 of these homes sustaining moderate damage and 461 suffering severe damage. The report is available from: CONRED
