On 12 September 2023, the state Government of Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil, published an update on the heavy rains affecting the state. There were 347,652 people affected (7,154 increase since the 12 September report), 925 people were reported with injuries (1 increase), and 9 people are missing (1 increase). The heavy rains caused the Uruguay river to flood in the municipality of São Borja and 19 families were displaced.
