Hurricane
Mexico
On 13 October 2026, media reports indicated that the death toll associated with Hurricane Simon and the remnants of Tropical Storm Rachel had risen to six, following heavy rainfall that triggered flooding and landslides along Mexico's Pacific coast. Five deaths were reported in Ensenada, Baja California, where flooding associated with the remnants of Rachel resulted in the deaths of five members of one family, including two minors, according to the Baja California prosecutor's office. An additional death was reported in Guerrero, where a man died following the collapse of a wall. At least six people remained missing in Ensenada, while emergency teams, supported by helicopters, rescued 32 people stranded in affected areas. Additional impacts included vehicles swept away by floodwaters, damaged homes, isolated communities, and the suspension of operations at Puerto Vallarta's airport. Heavy rainfall also increased river levels and caused flooding and landslides across Jalisco, Colima, Michoacán, and Guerrero. Hurricane Simon, which had not made landfall, was forecast to approach the coast of Sinaloa in the following days, with waves reaching up to five meters along affected coastal areas.
