Brazil (Update)

On 12 September 2023, the state Government of Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil, published an update on the heavy rains affecting the state. In total 340,498 people were reported as affected (2,107 increase since the 11 September report), 25,311 people were displaced (19 increase), injuries were reported among 924 people (1 increase), and 8 people remain reported as missing (38 decrease). In addition, 47 deaths have been reported (1 increase) in the municipalities of Bom Retiro do Sul (1), Colinas (2), Cruzeiro do Sul (5), Encantado (1), Estrela (2), Ibiraiaras (2), Imigrante (1), Lajeado (3), Mato Castelhano (1), Muçum (16), Passo Fundo (1), Roca Sales (11), and Santa Tereza (1).  The report is available from: Governo do Rio Grande do Sul

Guatemala (Update)

On 12 September 2023, the Guatemala National Coordinator for Disaster Reduction (CONRED per its acronym in Spanish) published an update on the rainy season in the country. There have been 736 severe rain incidents reported (13 increase since the 6 September report). At least 2,038,771 people were affected (29,688 increase), 25,990 people were attended to (2,073 increase), 6,203 people were evacuated (22 increase), and 9,381 people remain considered at risk (54 increase). In addition, 4,216 homes were moderately affected (311 increase) and 158 homes were severely damaged (2 increase). The report is available from: CONRED
