On 12 June 2023, the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) published information on heavy rains in Cuba, reporting 8 provinces in central and eastern Cuba were affected in the last week. The most severe rains were reported in Granma, Camagüey, Santiago de Cuba, and Guatánamo. More than 20,000 people have been isolated as the result of the flooding of rivers and 11,400 people have been evacuated. In the province of Granma, 470 communities were flooded, and another 25 communities were isolated due to roads affected, 10,000 homes were affected, including 65 destroyed and 214 partially destroyed, and one death was reported.. In the province of Camagüey, 12 educational institutions and 13 homes were affected, and 5 homes were destroyed. In the province of Las Tunas, more than 40 homes were flooded and 1,600 are at risk.
