On 11 January 2023, the United States Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) provided information on the severe weather in the East Coast of the United States. According to the information, Another strong storm system is expected for 12 January 2024 for portions of Southern Plains into the Lower Mississippi Valley. A total of 3 deaths were reported in the states of Alabama, Georgia and North Carolina (n=1 each). A total of 10 shelters were opened housing 87 people in the states of Rhode Island and Connecticut (n=5), New Jersey (n=62), New York (n=18), and Florida (n=2). Additionally, power outages have been reported in New York (n=28,263 users affected) followed by California (n=14,204), Pennsylvania (n=13,981), North Carolina (n=13,148), and Michigan (n=10,365).
