Bolivia (Update)

On 30 July 2024, the Bolivia Ministry of Defense (MINDEF per its acronym in Spanish) provided an update on the wildfires in the country. The MINDEF reports that as of 30 July 2024, the department of Santa Cruz officially registers six active fires in the municipalities of San Matías, Concepción, San Rafael, San Ignacio de Velasco, El Puente, and San Javier, noting that the fire in Roboré has already been extinguished. In addition, on 1 August 2024, the European Commission ECHO Daily Flash, reported an area of 353,386 has been burnt and at least 2,165 people have been affected across four communities. National authorities have deployed more than 1,102 firefighters. A state of disaster was declared for San Miguel de Velasco and San Ramón declared municipalities and for the Autonomous Government of Roboré in Santa Cruz department, which declared a departmental emergency. The reports are available from: MINDEF Bolivia and ECHO Daily Flash
