Guatemala (Update)
On 3 May, the Guatemala National Coordination System for Disaster Reduction (CONRED per its acronym in Spanish), reported that since the beginning of the 2022 Rainy Season, 13 incidents related to severe weather have affected 8,791 people. The departments affected are Guatemala, Huehuetenango, Quiche, Sacatepéquez, San Marcos, and Suchitepéquez. In total, 41 houses sustained slight damage, 36 reported moderate damage, and 5 roads were affected. The report is available at: CONRED.

United States of America (Update)
On 4 May, the United States Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) reported, in the state of New Mexico, the Cerro Pelado Fire and provided an update on the Hermit’s Peak Fire. The Cerro Pelado Fire in Sandoval, New Mexico has burned 25,004 acres and is 13% contained. There are 634 residents under mandatory evacuation orders and 3 shelters are open with 479 total occupants. There are 34 houses threatened, and 3 houses and 6 structures have been destroyed. Additionally, 1 injury was reported. The Hermit’s Peak Fire in San Miguel, New Mexico has burned 147,909 acres and is 20% contained. There are 25,939 residents under evacuation orders and 6 shelters in the surrounding area were opened. The air quality of the surrounding area is considered to be unhealthy to moderate and temporary flight restrictions are in effect. There were 7 injuries reported to date. On 3 May, according to a media report, heavy rains have caused the Sinú River in Lorica, Cordoba, to overflow since early 2 May, causing emergencies in several areas. In total, 10,000 families were directly impacted by the flooding, and 23,000 families residing on the left bank of the Sinú River were indirectly affected. A Disaster Risk Prevention and Attention Committee was convened to coordinate the distribution of humanitarian aid to the affected people. The report is available at: W Radio.
