Brazil (Update)  

On 18 December, the Brazil Government of Bahia provided an update on response efforts following the flooding that occurred in the southern region of Bahia on 29 November; more than 2,000 food baskets, 600 mattresses, clothes, and medicines were distributed to persons in the impacted regions. In addition, as part of emergency actions carried out by the Government of Bahia, a mobile Radio Base Station has been deployed in the district of Coqueiros, Jucuruçu with the objective of facilitating special operations in the health sector with mobile coverage and internet connection. According to a media report, since the heavy rainfall at the end of November, 299,360 people have been affected, 14 people have died, and 275 people were injured in the southern region of Bahia. In total, 15,483 people have lost their houses due to the rain and 51 municipalities remain under a state of emergency. The Brazilian Navy has distributed approximately 20 tons of food, clothing, and supplies in the municiaplities of Itamaraju, Jucuruçu, and Teixeira de Freitas.
