Guatemala (Update)

On 7 October, the Guatemala National Coordination for Disaster Reduction (CONRED per its acronym in Spanish) published an update on the ongoing rainy season, indicating there have been 2,244 related incidents nationally from the severe weather (156 increase since the 3 October report). As of 7 October, there were 15,321 people directly impacted (4,203 increase) and 29,474 people evacuated (23 increase). In addition, 15,321 homes were affected (4,203 increase), of which 14,025 presented moderate damage (4,196 increase), 868 with minor damage (five increase), and 428 were severely damaged (two increase). Hurricane Season 2024

Hurricane Milton

United States of America

On 7 October 2024, the United States National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) reported that Hurricane Milton reached category 5 and it’s moving toward the coast of Florida, United States of America. The United States Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) informed that in the state of Florida, 14 shelters were opened housing 429 people. Tropical Cyclone Helene

United States of America (Update)

On 7 October 2024, the United States Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) provided an update on the impact of Post-Tropical Cyclone Helene in the United States. In North Carolina, 76 deaths were reported (16 increase since the 4 October report) and 22 shelters were opened housing 825 people (decrease of 337). The report is available from: FEMA
