On 9 September 2020, the United States Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), reported a fire that occurred Tuesday, 8 September, threatening 500 homes in Happy Camp Community (population is 2,500) in Siskiyou County, California. To date, 25,000 acres of land have burned and 2,500 mandatory evacuations were in effect. In addition, the fire threatened the local water treatment facility and local telephone service provider. Elsewhere, in Pierce County, Washington State, a fire began on 8 September and burned land between the cities of Sumner and Bonney Lake (combined population 31,265). Mandatory evacuations were in effect for 2,800 people and the fire, threatened 1,500 homes, electrical utilities, and agricultural resources. On 9 September 2020, media reported heavy rain and overflowing of the San Juan, El 40, San Joaquín, and El Sitio rivers in Libertador Parish, Baralt Municipality, Zulia Department, Venezuela. Yesterday’s heavy rain affected at least 150 families, several homes, and major roads in the town of Mene Grande due to floods. In addition, elsewhere, in Santiago Mariño Municipality, Aragua State, overflowing rivers affected 762 families and 513 homes.
