On 17 September 2020, the Honduras Permanent Contingency Commission (COPECO) issued a yellow alert for 48 hours due to heavy rain affecting the following departments: Copán, Ocotepeque, Lempira, Intibucá, Choluteca, and Francisco Morazán. The National Emergency Operation Center in Honduras, reported 144 families were affected by recent heavy rain, as well as, several neighborhoods in the department of Francisco Morazán, Comayagua, Valle, Colón, Cortés, Yoro, El Paraíso, Copán, Lempira, and Olancho.
