On 9 October 2020, the U.S. National Hurricane Center (NOAA), reported that Hurricane Delta is now moving northwestward toward the southern Louisiana Coast. Hurricane conditions and life-threatening storm surge is expected in the landfall area during the next several hours. A hurricane warning is in effect for High Island Texas to the Mouth of the Pearl River including Calcasieu Lake, Vermilion Bay, and Lake Borgne in Louisiana State. On 8 October 2020, the Guatemala National Coordinator for the Reduction of Disasters (CONRED) reported heavy rain and flooding in el Progreso and San Marcos departments of Guatemala where 3,000 people and several roads were affected. The report is available in Spanish at: CONRED.

On 8 October 2020, media reported heavy rain and an overflow of San Juan and San Joaquin rivers in the town of Mene Grande in Baralt Municipality, Zulia State, Venezuela. Floods affected 150 families and at least 390 homes. The report is available in Spanish at: El Pitazo Noticias.
