On 6 October 2020, the U.S. National Hurricane Center (NOAA), reported that Hurricane Delta is expected to re-strengthen tonight and Thursday while moving over the southern and central Gulf of Mexico. Media reported that 39,290 people were evacuated from the Yucatan peninsula due to Hurricane Delta. Currently, there are 45 shelters in Quintana Roo State and 29 in Yucatan State. The report indicates 1,901 people were housed in Quintana Roo and 810 people in Yucatan. In addition, Cancun experienced a widespread power outage and 70% of Cozumel island lost power.
