Hurricane Delta

On 5 October 2020, the U.S. National Hurricane Center (NOAA), reported that Hurricane Delta is now category 4 hurricane and is expected to bring life-threatening storm surge and extreme winds. Hurricane Delta is expected to produce 4 to 6 inches of rain across portions of the northern Yucatan Peninsula through midweek, which may result in areas of significant flash flooding. A hurricane warning is in effect from Tulum to Dzilam and Cozumel Mexico. Later this week, Delta is expected to bring heavy rainfall and flash floods to portions of the central Gulf Coast, Tennessee Valley, and southeastern United States. Tropical Storm Gamma (Update)

On 5 October 2020, the Tabasco State Civil Protection of Mexico reported an update on the severe weather. To date a total of 623,000 people were affected (an increase of 33,635 persons since yesterday’s report) and 4,744 people were housed in 74 temporary shelters due to heavy rain and flooding. In addition, the report indicates 54 schools were affected in the State of Tabasco. The most affected municipalities are: Centro, Nacajuca, Cunduacán, Jalpa de Méndez, Tacotalpa, and Teapa. Colombia
On 5 October 2020, media reported recent heavy rain in Medellin Municipality, Antioquia Department, Colombia where at least 5,000 people were left isolated due to landslides. An overflow of the Nechí river in Cuturú de Caucasia affected 100 households and flooding occurred in Zaragoza Municipality with an overflow of the Oca stream.
