Guatemala 

On 5 October 2020, the Guatemala National Coordinator for the Reduction of Disasters (CONRED) reported heavy rain, flooding, and landslides occurred over the weekend and affected 10 departments of Guatemala. The affected departments were: Huehuetenango, Escuintla, Guatemala, Jalapa, Petén, Quetzaltenango, Retalhuleu, Santa Rosa, Sololá, and Suchitepéquez. A total of 24,696 people, of which 732 were evacuated and 80 were housed in shelters, were affected. The report is available in Spanish at: CONRED.  

Tropical Storm Delta (Alert)
Cayman Islands, Cuba, Jamaica, and Mexico

On 5 October 2020, the U.S. National Hurricane Center (NOAA), reported that Tropical Storm Delta is located about 160 miles southwest of Negril, Jamaica and 245 miles southeast of Grand Cayman. The government of Mexico issued a hurricane warning for the coast of the Yucatan peninsula from Tulum northward and westward to Rio Lagartos, including Cozumel. A hurricane warning is in effect for Pinar del Rio Province in Cuba. Delta is expected to produce a total of 8 inches of rain across Jamaica, the Cayman Islands, western Cuba and the northern Yucatan Peninsula. This rainfall could lead to significant flash floods and mudslides. The report is available in English at: NOAA.

Tropical Storm Gamma
Honduras and Mexico

On 5 October 2020, the Tabasco State Civil Protection of Mexico reported that tropical storm Gamma caused flooding in several municipalities of the state. Media reported floods and overflow of rivers caused by the tropical storm affected 589,365 people in 367 communities. To date, 525 homes were affected and five deaths were reported in the states of Chiapas and Tabasco due to floods. The Honduras Permanent Contingency Commission (COPECO), reported heavy rain due to tropical storm Gamma in El Limonal village, Choluteca city and in Marcala Municipality, La Paz State where 294 persons were affected and several families were housed in shelters.
