On 13 October 2020, the National System of Civil Protection of El Salvador reported that the Shutia River overflowed due to the heavy rains recorded in the Tepecoyo Municipality in the department of La Libertad. A total of 12 families (over 20 persons) were evacuated to a temporary shelter at the Tepecoyo school. Additionally, fallen trees blocking the neighborhood access roads from Alegria to Berlin were reported as well as damage in multiple houses caused by strong winds recorded in the Municipality of Alegría, Department of Usultán.
