On 27 March 2020, media reported overflowing of the Juruá River which has begun flooding the backyards of 5000 families living in Môa, Lagoa, Estirão do Remanso, and Miritizal neighborhoods of Cruzeiro do Sul municipality, Acre, Brazil. In an effort to avoid crowding due to COVID-19, the affected families will for the time being be sent to stay in rented properties or, if necessary, hotels in the city.
